(Inward Stepping Three)


This is the thirteenth form in the Tang Soo Do system.  The form is also referred to as "Naihanchi".  This form also emphasizes straight line movement, use of the hips, and stomping/sweeping kicks.  The form also emphasizes a lot of circular trapping and joint locking movements This form contains 32 movements.
Jhoon Bee

  1. Bring the right knee up in a chambered position by the left calf, while crossing the arms.  The right fist should be brought to the left shoulder, and the left fist should be brought to the right hip.  Then, step straight out to the right with the right foot into a horse stance, executing a right stomp kick.  At the same time, simultaneously execute a left inside-outside block and a right low block to the front of the body.  Next, switch hands, executing a simultaneous left low block, and right inside-outside block.  Eyesight should be directed forward.
  2. Maintaining the same stance, cross the arms, bringing the right fist to the left shoulder, and the left fist to the right hip.  Next, extend the arms to the sides, simultaneously executing a side low block with the left hand, and a high side inside-outside block with the right hand.  Then, execute a reinforced outside-inside block with the right hand, bringing the left forearm in front of the chest.  The left fist should be palm down, under the right elbow.  Eyesight should remain forward.
  3. Next, sharply bring both hands to the right side of the body.  The right fist should be chambered at the right side, and the left hand should be open, palm down, with the left forearm in front of the body.  Eyesight should remain forward.
  4. Execute a center punch with the right hand to the front of the body.  The left hand should remain open and in the same position as the previous movement.  At the end of the technique, the fingers of the left hand should be touching the top of the right forearm just below the elbow.  Eyesight should be directed forward.
  5. Look to the right and step across the right foot with the left foot into a tripod stance.  At the same time, rotate the right fist clockwise in a small circular movement, turning the fist palm up in front of the body.  The left open hand should remain in the same position on the right forearm.
  6. Next, step out to the right with the right foot into a horse stance, executing a stomp kick.  Bring the right fist to the left shoulder, and then execute an inverted side low block with the right hand.  Then, quickly rotate the right hand counterclockwise in a small sharp circular movement, so that the right fist is facing down.  The left open hand should remain in the same position throughout this movement.  Eyesight should be directed to the right.
  7. Maintaining the same stance, move both hands in a large circular motion counterclockwise coming over the head, and ending up back in the same position.  The left open hand should remain on the right forearm throughout this movement.  Then, bring both hands to the right side, with the right fist chambered at the side, and the left open hand in front of the chest, palm down.
  8. Maintaining the same stance, look to the front, and execute a right hand center punch to the front of the body.  The left open hand should remain in the same position, touching the right forearm.
  9. Maintain the same stance, and simultaneously execute a right inside-outside block and a left low block to the front of the body.  Then, immediately switch hands, executing a left inside-outside block and a right low block to the front of the body. Eyesight should be directed forward.
  10. Maintaining the same stance, cross the arms, bringing the left fist to the right shoulder, and the right fist to the left hip.  Next, extend the arms to the sides, simultaneously executing a side low block with the right hand, and a high side inside-outside block with the left hand.  Then, execute a reinforced outside-inside block with the left hand, bringing the left forearm in front of the chest.  The left fist should be palm down, under the right elbow.  Eyesight should remain forward.
  11. Step across the left foot with the right foot into a tripod stance, and cross the arms, bringing the left fist to the right shoulder, and the right fist to the left hip.  Next, pick up the left knee into a chambered position, and extend the arms to the sides, simultaneously executing a side low block with the right hand, and a high side inside-outside block with the left hand.  Then, step out to the left into a horse stance, executing a left stomp kick.  At the same time, execute a reinforced outside-inside block with the left hand, bringing the left forearm in front of the chest.  The left fist should be palm down, under the right elbow.  Kihap.
  12. Next, sharply bring both hands to the left side of the body.  The left fist should be chambered at the left side, and the right hand should be open, palm down, with the right forearm in front of the body.  Eyesight should remain forward.
  13. Execute a center punch with the left hand to the front of the body.  The right hand should remain open and in the same position as the previous movement.  At the end of the technique, the fingers of the right hand should be touching the top of the  left forearm just below the elbow.  Eyesight should be directed forward.
  14. Look to the left and step across the left foot with the right foot into a tripod stance.  At the same time, rotate the left fist counterclockwise in a small circular movement, turning the fist palm up in front of the body.  The right open hand should remain in the same position on the left forearm.
  15. Next, step out to the left with the left foot into a horse stance, executing  a stomp kick.  Bring the left fist to the right shoulder, and then execute an inverted side low block with the left hand.  Then, quickly rotate the left hand clockwise in a small sharp circular movement, so that the left fist is facing down.  The right open hand should remain in the same position throughout this movement.  Eyesight should be directed to the left.
  16. Maintaining the same stance, move both hands in a large circular motion clockwise coming over the head, and ending up back in the same position.  The right open hand should remain on the left forearm throughout this movement.  Then, bring both hands to the left side, with the left fist chambered at the side, and the right open hand in front of the chest, palm down.
  17. Look to the right, and execute an inside-outside knife hand block with the right hand to the right side of the body.  Then, immediately execute a left center punch across the body, while bringing the right fist back into a chambered position.  The left forearm should be in front of the chest.
  18. Continue looking to the right, and step across the right foot with the left foot into a tripod stance while crossing the arms in front of the body.  The left fist should be brought to the right hip, and the right fist should be brought to the left shoulder.  Next, step out to the right with the right foot, executing a stomp kick, while executing an inside-outside block with the left hand.  The right hand should be brought back into a chambered position.  Then, execute a low punch with the right hand, while bringing the left hand to the right shoulder.  Then, immediately extend the hands out to the sides, simultaneously executing a high side inside-outside block with the right hand, and a side low block with the left hand.  Next, execute a reinforced outside-inside block with the right hand to the front of the body.  The left forearm should be in front of the chest, with the left fist under the right elbow.  Kihap.
